Essential oils to essential wisdom: Blossom Kochhar’s journey of joy, surrender, and soulful success

A life infused with intention, grace, and purpose – aromatherapy pioneer Blossom Kochhar continues to inspire generations by blending soulful wisdom with a legacy rooted in wellness, family, and spiritual empowerment.

Blossom Kochhar has lived a life that is as radiant as the essential oils she lovingly blends – a life that has inspired countless women, shaped a legacy brand rooted in wellness and intention, and touched many with her luminous presence.

Over the years, she has been honored with numerous awards for her pioneering work in holistic beauty, aromatherapy, and women’s empowerment.

Over the decades, she has redefined beauty as something deeper than skin, offering a path to healing through nature, intuition, and soulful care. In this heartfelt conversation, Blossom shares not just her wisdom on spiritual empowerment and alternative therapies but also the joys of watching her daughter and grandson carry her legacy forward. This is a journey through joy, surrender, family, and purpose—one that reminds us that true beauty begins within.

And now, let’s step into Part 2 of this heart-opening conversation, where Blossom continues to illuminate her path – from the healing arts she embraces to the wisdom she lives by, and the legacy she’s lovingly nurturing with her daughter and grandson.

Excerpts from the 2-part exclusive interview she gave to Lotus:

Navni Chawla: How important is spiritual empowerment for professional success, especially for women in India?

Blossom Kochhar: India has always been a deeply spiritual land, and what truly inspires me today is how young people are embracing this spirit more than ever. They’re actively seeking purpose, calm, and inner balance through yoga, meditation, and holistic living – not as a later-life pursuit, but as a way of life.

At the Blossom Kochhar Academy, we simply nurture this inclination. We host meditations, yoga sessions, and talks, but truthfully, the youth are already on the path. Often, they end up teaching us a valuable lesson.

Following the pandemic, a powerful spiritual awakening has emerged, particularly among the younger generation. Seeing them in retreats and healing spaces once dominated by older participants is incredibly heartening.

Yes, spiritual empowerment is key to professional success – it brings the inner stability needed to face outer challenges. And in India, this wisdom is already in our roots. The next generation is simply helping it bloom again.

Blossom

Happiness is about raising your vibration. When your energy lifts, life becomes lighter, decisions easier, and your joy more natural. You smile more, give more, and receive more. It’s not about being upbeat all the time – it’s about having tools to return to joy.”

Navni: Which complementary systems or therapies have you studied and practice today for your own well-being?

Blossom: I’ve explored many alternative therapies over the years, each enriching my life in its own way. The one closest to my heart is Reiki – simple yet profoundly powerful. I first learned it in Chicago from a friend, then trained further with Reiki master William Lee Rand, always honoring the lineage of Dr. Mikao Usui.

I also practice Pranic Healing for its transformative meditations and chakra therapy, which helps maintain emotional and energetic balance. Crystal therapy is another favorite – each stone brings a unique vibration that supports healing and intention.

Yoga and meditation are lifelong companions, but I also love movement therapies like dance and drumming – especially playing the African djembe, which grounds and uplifts me. Even watching spiritual films can shift my energy, something I learned from my dear friend Sangeeta Jain.

Another tool I frequently use is EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique), which is a simple yet effective method for calming anxiety. I believe in weaving healing into daily life – using whatever tool the moment calls for.

Navni:  You have also become a happiness coach and have worked with beauty contestants. How do you define happiness, and share your top tips to boost one’s happiness level, especially on difficult days

Blossom: Oh yes, I’ve worked with many beauty contestants, and whether it’s them or any woman out there, the truth remains – happiness is a practice. It doesn’t just happen; you create it, especially on hard days. No one is happy all the time, but the power lies in your ability to shift your state.

Here are some tools that help me, and I love sharing them with others:

  1. Conveyor Belt Visualization: Imagine emotional baggage on a conveyor belt – pick what feels good, toss the rest.
  2. Dopamine Dressing: Wear colors and accessories that lift your energy. Style can shift your mood instantly.
  3. Gratitude Journaling: Write down 4-5 things you’re thankful for each night. Gratitude and happiness walk together.
  4. Breathing into the Heart: Place your hand on your heart, breathe in love, exhale peace. It’s incredibly calming.
  5. Stardust Visualization: Visualize golden-pink stardust raining on you. It fills you with strength and light.
  6. Nature Therapy & Movement: Walk, dance, drum – nature and rhythm are instant energy shifters.
  7. Square Breathing: Breathe in, hold, exhale, hold – all for a count of four. It centers you quickly.
  8. Mindful Dopamine Eating: Comfort food is okay – just eat with awareness and joy, not guilt.

Happiness is about raising your vibration. When your energy lifts, life becomes lighter, decisions easier, and your joy more natural. You smile more, give more, and receive more. It’s not about being upbeat all the time – it’s about having tools to return to joy. So, wear that bright dress, play your favorite song, write in your journal, or breathe in some stardust – your happiness is always within reach.

Navni: Blossom, do you have a spiritual guru?

Blossom: I wouldn’t say I have one single spiritual guru I follow devotedly. Rather, I find wisdom and grace flowing from many masters, and I draw from each of them in different ways. I often read their books, listen to their talks, and reflect on their teachings – each one offering something valuable for different stages or moods of my life. So in that sense, I follow quite a few.

More recently, I’ve been exploring Sri Vidya (worship of Tripura Sundari, who represents the highest form of Shakti), leaning into its sacred teachings and subtle practices.

“Food is not just nourishment. It’s an experience. When we eat mindfully, we connect with our body’s wisdom. We tune into the feeling – how each bite tastes, how it feels as it travels down, how it energizes or grounds us. It’s about slowing down, being present, and receiving the food with gratitude.”

Navni: You have diversified into Tea Rooms. Is there a plan to franchise?

Blossom: The Tea Rooms are close to my heart, but it was entirely my daughter Samantha’s dream and vision. She is passionate about food and wanted to create a space that celebrated the joy of wholesome, comforting meals. That’s how our first Tea Room in Hauz Khas Village in south Delhi came into being. Samantha set up a takeaway right next to it.

Recently, we’ve launched another lovely venture called ByTerra, a space devoted to conscious eating. That’s where Samantha’s passion for food really aligns with mindful living, and it’s something that’s just beginning to unfold.

As for franchising, we’re not sure yet. But if we do consider expanding, we will opt for conscious, nourishing cuisine.

Navni: How do you see mindful eating in today’s fast-paced world?

Blossom: Oh, I believe mindful eating is essential, more than ever now. In today’s rushed world, we’ve forgotten the simple joy of truly experiencing our food. Most of us eat mechanically. We’re either scrolling on our phones or thinking of the next thing we need to do, hardly ever pausing to notice the color, the aroma, the texture, the temperature of what’s going into our bodies.

But food is not just nourishment. It’s an experience. When we eat mindfully, we connect with our body’s wisdom. We tune into the feeling – how each bite tastes, how it feels as it travels down, how it energizes or grounds us. It’s about slowing down, being present, and receiving the food with gratitude.

That to me is true self-love and self-care. And I believe more and more people are waking up to this. Mindful eating is not a trend – it’s a return to the sacred rhythm of living.

Navni: What role did Col Virendra Kochhar play in your life and success?

Blossom: He played every role. Truly, he was the most important part of my success, my life, my world – everything. Without his constant support, encouragement, and belief in me, I firmly believe that none of this would have come about. He was my backbone, my sounding board, my greatest champion. He stood by me through every decision, every risk, every new venture. He believed in me before anyone else did.

When he passed away (in 2011), it was one of the saddest and most difficult chapters of my life. But I’ve always believed in divine timing and the gentle unfolding of life through God’s will. And just as he transitioned, my daughter Samantha stepped up. She held my hand and the legacy with strength and grace. I also had the unwavering support of dear friends like Sangeeta Jain, and today, my grandson, Aryman Kochhar, has joined in too.

And you know… though Colonel Kochhar is no longer here physically, I feel his presence every single day. They never really leave us, do they – our loved ones? Their energy continues to guide us silently.

Navni: What roles do Samantha and Aryaman play in your companies?

Blossom: My daughter, Samantha, is the Managing Director of our company, and she brings a strong business acumen, creative ideas, and a deep sense of purpose to everything she does. She’s really taken the brand forward in an inspiring way.

Aryman Kochhar has recently joined as Director and oversees the finance department. He’s young, intelligent, and brings in a fresh, youthful energy that I absolutely love. He has his own perspectives and ideas, and it’s such a joy to watch him grow into his own space.

Together, they represent the future. They ensure that our vision evolves with the times, allowing us to remain relevant, vibrant, and ahead of the curve. Things change so rapidly now, and we need young blood to innovate and transform what we started.

The Blossom Kochhar Foundation is committed to social responsibility and community service, with a focus on initiatives related to health, education, and skill development, often in collaboration with other NGOs and charitable organizations.

Navni: You have accomplished and given so much to the world, what do you look forward to now?

Blossom: Now, it’s truly about living with joy and intention. I find immense happiness in simply doing what I love. I’m still very much involved in the business, especially in the making and creation of products. New ideas, new blends, new energies – they keep me inspired and aligned with nature’s gifts.

I’ve also been dedicating more time to writing, to share the wisdom I’ve gathered over the years. I also do talks, workshops, and engagements that allow me to connect directly with people. That exchange of energy is something I deeply cherish.

I love traveling, but feel happiest when my journeys are purpose-driven – when I can blend leisure with learning, or inspiration with intention. I’ve been told that I should simply relax and enjoy, but I’ve come to realize that, for me, enjoyment stems from being of service, from creating, and from staying engaged. Even a small work element in my trips makes me feel grounded and useful.

This stage of life feels like a beautiful balance of inner peace and outer expression. And I’m deeply grateful for that.
