Healing beyond quick fixes
What does it really mean to cure? Does it lie in silencing symptoms or in addressing what lies beneath them? For Preeti Choudhary, founder and CEO of Kaayu Rituals, healing is not about quick fixes or surface-level relief but about understanding the body at its core.
With Kaayu, she moves beyond conventional approaches, drawing inspiration from the ancient wisdom of the Ayurveda classic Charaka Samhita to focus on precision-driven, root-cause healing.
“Kaayu sits at the intersection of tradition, science, and modern lifestyle. The wellness space is crowded with products, but few brands focus on guiding people on how to use them meaningfully. That is where we are different,” Preeti told A Lotus In The Mud.
“We are not a product-first brand; we are a ritual-first brand. Our role is to simplify Ayurveda, make it accessible, and help people integrate it into daily life without feeling overwhelmed,” she elaborated.
Ayurveda is witnessing renewed global interest. Market Research Future reports that the global Ayurveda market is experiencing strong, steady growth, driven by rising consumer demand for natural, holistic healthcare solutions. Valued at approximately $10.59 billion in 2024, it is expected to grow to nearly $49.75 billion by 2035.
Drawing on her over 18 years in integrative healthcare, Preeti said this is not just a resurgence but a broader shift in consumer mindset—one that is more aware, intentional, and curious about why something works, not just what works.
“For years, wellness has been driven by quick fixes and surface-level solutions. Today, people are beginning to experience the limitations of that approach. Issues such as stress, burnout, and hormonal imbalance require deeper, more sustainable solutions,” she explains.
“Ayurveda offers that depth. It focuses on balance, prevention, and understanding the root cause rather than chasing symptoms. Ayurveda, when approached with authenticity, meets those needs naturally.”

Scientific validation is key to boosting Ayurveda
The growing popularity of Ayurveda is evident in its recognition as a formal system of medicine not only in India’s neighboring countries, such as Nepal, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and Bangladesh, but also across regions like the Middle East, Malaysia, Mauritius, Hungary, Serbia, Tanzania, Switzerland, Cuba, and Brazil. Notably, within the European Union, countries such as Romania, Hungary, Latvia, Serbia, and Slovenia have established regulatory frameworks for Ayurvedic practice—underscoring its expanding global acceptance.
When asked about the role of scientific validation in strengthening Ayurveda’s global credibility, Preeti said that it is “essential” because scientific validation “helps build trust.”
“It ensures safety, consistency, and transparency. Coming from a healthcare background, I believe the same level of rigor applied to medical products should also apply to everyday wellness.”
She added that when science and tradition come together thoughtfully, it strengthens the system rather than diluting it.

Headquartered in Warrington, United Kingdom, Kaayu offers 20 rituals across four categories. All products are certified by India’s Ministry of AYUSH—which oversees the development, promotion, and education of traditional healthcare systems such as Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, Sowa-Rigpa, and Homeopathy—and are manufactured in GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices)-certified facilities, ensuring the safety and quality of traditional medicines.
On adapting Ayurveda to modern lifestyle, Preeti said, “The format can evolve, but the philosophy cannot. Traditionally, Ayurveda was practiced at home with fresh preparations. Today’s lifestyle does not always allow for that, so formats need to adapt.”
“We retain the integrity of Ayurvedic ingredients and principles while delivering them in formats that are easy to use in everyday life. What matters is how the product is formulated, how ingredients are sourced, and whether the intention remains aligned with balance and long-term well-being.”
Ayurveda, a 5,000-year-old Indian system of medicine, is considered an Upaveda of the Atharva Veda. The word “Ayurveda” is a combination of two words: “Ayu” (life) + “Veda” (science). Thus, Ayurveda is a science of life, and modern convenience should not come at the cost of authenticity.
Balancing daily rituals with a modern lifestyle
While Ayurveda emphasizes daily rituals, these are often misunderstood in modern settings as elaborate or time-consuming.
“In reality, they are simple moments of intention,” said Preeti.
“We see rituals as small, meaningful pauses in the day. It could be a cup of tea, applying oil, or taking a moment to breathe before starting the morning. People do not need more steps in their routine; they need moments that ground them.
“When practiced consistently, even a few minutes a day can create a meaningful shift in how one feels, both physically and emotionally,” she added.
Ayurveda’s strength lies in a highly personalized approach. To ensure this doesn’t feel overwhelming for beginners, Kaayu simplifies the entry point.
“Instead of trying to personalize everything immediately, we focus on common needs such as stress, skin imbalance, or hormonal changes. We then build guided rituals around these,” Preeti said.
“As people engage with these rituals, they begin to understand their own bodies better. That is where true personalization begins. We are not replacing personalization; we are making it easier to access,” she added.
Ayurveda and meeting the expectations of informed consumers
One of the challenges for any Ayurvedic product today is meeting the expectations of highly informed consumers.
“Consumers research, compare, and try to understand what they are using. At the same time, the volume of information available can feel overwhelming,” she said.
“This is where brands must step in with responsibility—not just to sell, but to educate and simplify. The role of a brand today is to bring clarity, not add to the noise.”
Preeti’s brand offers a range of supplements, including teas and skincare. The focus is to encourage holistic wellness.
“One of the core principles of Ayurveda is that everything is interconnected—skin, digestion, hormones, and stress all influence one another. Our product is designed as a complete wellness ecosystem. Each category supports a different aspect of well-being, but together they create a more balanced approach,” she explained.
The intention is to move away from fragmented self-care toward something more integrated and intuitive.
While stress is a natural human response, it can impact daily life. In such a stressful world, Ayurvedic practices can help build balance.
“Modern life constantly pulls attention outward. Ayurveda brings that attention back inward,” Preeti said, adding that simple practices such as mindful breathing, oil application, or even drinking tea without distraction can create moments of stillness.
“These moments may seem small, but they have a cumulative effect on how we manage stress, sleep, and overall well-being.”
Ayurveda is not just about healing the body; it is about creating space within the mind—something people are increasingly seeking today.
