He is an internal medicine specialist/pulmonologist, and was the chair of medicine at Nassau County Medical Center from 1987-1999. He is one of the founding members of the Islamic Center of Long Island in Westbury, NY, and Founder and Chairman of the Interfaith Institute of Long. Dr Khan has served as president of Nargis Dutt Memorial Foundation, as Regent of the American College of Physicians, President of Islamic Medical Association of North America (IMANA), and was on the Majlis Shura of the Islamic Society of North America. Dr Khan has received many awards for his interfaith work.
