Sister Mohini Panjabi, who took over last month as Administrative Head of the Brahma Kumaris, has spent over six decades channeling silent strength, spiritual knowledge, and universal love to bring transformation to countless lives. Following in the footsteps of her revered predecessor, Dadi Ratan Mohini, she now carries forward a legacy rooted in truth, dignity, and light.
An early encounter with suffering and seeking
Born in 1941 to a philanthropic family in India, BK Mohini Didi’s early worldview was shaped by the raw human pain she witnessed during the Partition of the country. This imprint of suffering sparked an inner quest – if external peace was uncertain, could internal peace still be cultivated? Her education at the University of Delhi, where she studied history, political science, and journalism, only deepened her inquiry. And then, as a teenager, she encountered the Brahma Kumaris – a meeting that would forever alter the course of her life.
Service that spans continents
Mohini Panjabi began serving with the Brahma Kumaris even as a student. By 1978, she had established the organization’s regional headquarters in New York for North and South America and the Caribbean. Her vision and integrity won her the role of NGO representative at the United Nations in 1981 – a milestone not just for the BKs, but for spiritual organizations globally.
Since 1998, she has led the Call-of-the-Time Dialogues and Retreats, a sacred space for leaders to reconnect with their higher selves. More than a thousand world influencers have drawn inspiration from these retreats.
Peace Village – a living sanctuary
Under Sister Mohini’s guidance, the Brahma Kumaris opened the Peace Village Learning and Retreat Center in New York’s Catskill Mountains. It is a sanctuary for people of all faiths and walks of life. Here, silence and self-inquiry are not luxuries – they are nourishment. Her visionary leadership continues to make spirituality tangible, accessible, and deeply relevant.

Following the passing of Dadi Ratan Mohini, BK Mohini Didi has been named the new Administrative Head of the Brahma Kumaris, stepping into the role with quiet courage and a lifelong commitment to spiritual service.
Spiritual succor in a time of crisis
When the COVID-19 pandemic brought the world to a halt, BK Mohini responded not with fear, but with presence. She launched a nightly Zoom broadcast called Avyakti Parivar, offering meditation and spiritual talks that reached thousands worldwide. In a time of isolation, she became a quiet yet constant companion to seekers across the globe.
The truth is like the sun
BK Mohini often speaks in quiet, contemplative tones, and yet her words carry a transformative energy. In a recent Avyakti Parivar sharing, she recalled a lesson on truth:
“Truth is like the sun. Even if you try to cover it, its light will still shine through. Those who feel the need to loudly declare they are truthful might be struggling with subtle dishonesty. Let truth be your nature, not your slogan.”
She also emphasized the link between truth, dignity, and trust. From childhood tales of faking a fever to skip school, to adults weaving convenient untruths, she gently calls us back to integrity. “Why lie about little things? When people trust you, life flows more smoothly.”
Following the legacy of Dadi Ratan Mohini
BK Mohini follows in the footsteps of her beloved predecessor, Dadi Ratan Mohini, who passed away at the age of 101 early last month in Ahmedabad. Dadi was deeply revered for her simplicity, humility, and spiritual clarity. In his tribute, Prime Minister Narendra Modi remembered her as “a beacon of light, wisdom and compassion,” while President Droupadi Murmu recalled her immense contribution to India’s spiritual fabric.
Today, BK Mohini steps into this role with grace, holding the torch high yet steady, continuing the lineage of women spiritual leaders whose power lies in gentleness, and whose truth needs no defense.
The Story of Immortality book
In 2008, BK Mohini headed the project to research and compile ‘The Story of Immortality: A Return to Self-Sovereignty’, a beautifully produced book synthesizing the spiritual essence of the Brahma Kumaris’ teachings. It has since found its way into hands and hearts across continents, a spiritual compass for those seeking inner light. Sister Mohini has contributed the Foreword for the hardcover book.
A living example of awakened consciousness
BK Mohini is not a public figure in the traditional sense. She is a quiet force, a deep river, a still flame. Her life reminds us that leadership does not always shout – it often meditates. That truth is not something to wield, but something to embody.
As she continues to write, speak, and remain in contemplative silence, BK Mohini carries forward a timeless truth: When you live in truth, you don’t need to prove it. You simply shine.

Shakti in Silence

Om Shanti.
Last night, I was speaking with a group of sisters from London, and we were remembering Dadi Janki. Though she would sometimes be with us for just ten days, the energy she brought was powerful, fearless, light, and full of faith. I always felt that her presence alone was a teaching.
Dadi often said that what made us who we are is the bhavna we have for one another. It’s subtle, but powerful – this good feeling, this good wish. It gives strength. Her faith was so deep that it created faith in others. I’ve seen that when she wanted something to change, it would change. That is the power of trust and determination.
Baba (Brahm Baba, founder of the BK movement) reminds us that we are the Shaktis of the Almighty Government. And when Shaktis have courage, the Almighty Authority helps. Lionesses are fearless. So why fear anything? Speak and act with the power of truth – but with dignity, sweetness, and awareness. Truth doesn’t need to be loud or forceful. In fact, the more sweetness there is in our words, the more deeply they touch the heart.
I remember Dadi once telling me how Baba sent her to speak at a major religious gathering. She was standing before great gurus and saints, and she simply remembered Baba. As she began to speak, there was such spiritual authority in her presence. Another time in Rio, she started chanting ‘Om Shanti’ and within minutes, the whole atmosphere was filled with deep silence. Thousands joined in, and you could feel the sky vibrating with peace.
This is the power we have when we remember Baba. All the powers become available to us when we have courage. So take this thought of courage with you, today and always.
Om Shanti.
