Sri Brahmrishi Siddhguru Gurudev addressed an exclusive event in New York presented by filmmaker Neha Lohia and ALotusInTheMud.com
I have had the opportunity to attend spiritual programs led by Sri Brahmrishi Siddhguru Gurudev in the past. He is a great orator and a formidable personality. But the guests invited to the July 18 meet-and-greet co-hosted by filmmaker Neha Lohia and me were mostly English-speaking and not of Indian origin. That made me wonder how the evening would play out. Will he give a discourse at all to enlighten the elite gathering at the Marriott Marquis hotel in New York City?
As it turned out, the saffron-clad guru sporting a Vivekananda-style turban spoke initially in Hindi, which was deftly translated by a close disciple, and then continued in fairly good English. Attendees were in thrall of his inspiring, elevating message.
The most heartening part of the evening was that compared to the thousands he normally addresses at an event, ours was a smaller, intimate group, and each lucky guest got individually blessed by the gracious guru.
He provoked laughter when he said the lucky people in the room should thank their friend, Neha Lohia, for treating them to a ‘Divine Party’, instead of a wine party.
Siddhguru is renowned for his profound knowledge of Vedic sciences. He reached the pinnacle of pure consciousness and spiritual powers, which, his followers say, he directs to heal all at the soul level.
Cautioning that modern life is depleting our soul energy in many ways, he encouraged us to follow and pursue all that strengthens soul energy. “We have advanced and created a lot of technology to be fit externally, but our souls are depleting. We need to strengthen our souls with active practice and utmost urgency,” Siddhguru emphasized.
He addressed the growing incidence of depression in affluent communities and emphasized the importance of fostering faith among those striving for conscious change. We all felt a surge of self-confidence and self-esteem when he said, “Each one of you is unique – a Masterpiece.”

Notable dignitaries, doctors, scientists, artists, healers, and light workers at the event felt blessed. They included Aleta St. James, Dr. Anna Yusim, Jodi Weiss, fashion designers Prashant Goyal and Jim Su, HBO fame actor Alex Garfin, Emmy-nominated filmmaker Tirlok Malik, latest Broadway sensation Kaitlyn Mitchell, corporate guys Equinox founder Lavinia Errico, Kunal Sood and Seth Rao. Dr Sumul Raval, a convener of the AAPI World Health Congress, dropped by. The Indian American physicians’ convention was inaugurated the same morning by Siddhguru.
The guru led the attendees in chanting ancient and powerful mantras for health, abundance, and wish fulfillment. Afterward, each guest received personal blessings, including precious gems and rare gifts, propelling them further toward their goals.
The evening also featured a glimpse of the Siddhasana technique conducted by Shilpa Shyamsukha Mehta, Siddhguru’s trained facilitator. He has developed Siddhasana as a holistic practice to empower people and enable them to supercharge their good agendas.
Neha Lohia told Lotus that this crucial message will be explored further in her upcoming documentary, ‘Siddhi’. The film centers on Siddhguru sharing deep and unspoken truths from sacred texts publicly for the first time.
Some devotees whose lives have been transformed by following the guru’s teachings were present to support the event. They included Ashok Sancheti, Sharada and Chandra Bhansali, and Rajesh Choradia.
Siddhguru’s homilies, such as seeing FAILure as “First Attempt in Learning” and the mantra “Know Faith, No Fear,” resonated deeply, leaving a lasting impression on all present
“He is enlightened, and I am so fortunate that I followed my intuition and came to this event,” said Aleta St. James, who empowers millions of American women with her life-shifting healing modalities.
“This truly was a rare and special gathering,” said another attendee, reflecting on the unique blend of wisdom and divine energy that permeated the event.
In the run-up to Guru Purnima (which fell on July 21), the master blessed all present and especially showered his abundant love on the hosts, empowering them to keep walking the path of dharma and creating more opportunities for the sangha, the community of conscious friends who come together to share how to elevate world consciousness.
On a visit to the US from Tirupati in India, where his ashram is, Siddhguru had earlier led programs in the tristate area and other parts of the country.
