Dear Friends,
We are pleased to present to you ALotusInTheMud.com, a wellness and spirituality web magazine. Started in November 2022, it was formally launched at the Indian Consulate in New York in January 2023. Paywall-free, it has been growing its audience at a fast clip. We have received positive feedback from our readers for the helpful content and the media – both print and electronic – has given us extensive coverage.
Lotus was started in the wake of Covid19 pandemic to render service to society in the form of information and analysis for people to be happier, healthier, and more peaceful. We do stories and content sourcing from ancient traditions as well as cutting-edge modern science. A litmus test for publishing any article – and we published over 200 articles in the first eight months since inception – is that it has to be authoritative, well-researched, edifying and useful to our readers. Our presentation for the modern person is in contemporary idiom and lively style. The user-friendly design matches the best in web space.
Gaining prominence and growing our resources, we have been able to take on projects belying our young age. We started our biweekly newsletter, ‘The Lotus Bloom’, in June 2023. It is free to our growing list of subscribers. A big moment came for us when we attended the Parliament of the World’s Religions in Chicago in August and brought to our readers some exclusive reports from there. In September, we organized a public event on Kashmir Shaivism in Hicksville, NY with Virendra Qazi, a top world expert on the subject.
Lotus is founded and helmed by Parveen Chopra, a seasoned media professional who has specialized in wellness, personal growth and spirituality. A trained teacher of meditation, he started ‘Life Positive’, India’s first body-mind-spirit print magazine in 1996 from New Delhi. Moving to the US, he edited ‘The South Asian Times’ for over a decade and ‘One World Under God’ interfaith journal. He is growing the Lotus team here in the US and in India.
The Lotus flower is a powerful symbol across cultures of beauty, pristine radiance, and resilience. Arising from muddy water, ‘Lotus in the mud’ signifies that we may get caught up in problems and suffer as a result, but we have the inherent capability to emerge to full bloom Lotus state in body, mind, and spirit.
Lotus webmag is published by the American Center for Wellness and Spirituality Inc (ACWS), a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation. ACWS is a social enterprise that also plans to do offline activities. Among its objectives is fostering interfaith and inter-community harmony as well as world peace.
We are independent, not aligned with any ideology or institution.
